Progress Report

Hello everybody,

Just a very brief update.

We should be signing the final contract for manufacturing in a couple of weeks. A large portion of the graphics are now complete and ready to upload to the manufacturer's server, and we're waiting for an answer on the cost of a couple of options.

Metal production is in full swing on the basic figure set (cartoon style) and the metal expansion figures.

Plastic figure production should begin around July 1. This is being done by a different manufacturer than the base game.

All of the figures will be provided in a separate box than the game due to the high degree of customization in the Kickstarter.

I'm working with a designer in the very early stages of the plastic tray. Once a few key decisions are made, that design process will begin and it will be turned over to a different manufacturer than the rest of the game.

That's all for this week. As always, if you have any questions, send them my way!

Thanks for your support and your patience waiting for this to all come together.

All the best,

Forrest

Figure Production Begins!
about 3 years ago – Fri, May 14, 2021 at 03:10:33 AM

Hi everyone,

Well, the day has finally come. The metal figure presses are running. We're spinning metal for the base set production metal; the picture below shows the results of first couple of spins.

Production Begins!!!

We've also got all the masters finished for the cartoon stretch goal figures. Those will go into production molds the next couple of days (second picture). The bear is the only thing missing from the equation, and I'll be printing him out in the type of resin we need for mold vulcanizing (the one we used for playtesting and promotion was a lower quality draft printer with softer plastic that won't hold up to mold-making).

I'll be printing out the master for the last Gunfighter's Ball figure conversion this week, which will allow me to begin making molds for those and get started rolling.

Punchboard Elements

The punchboard design is finished, and the cards are all prepared for production through our printing vendor (the red and green lines are for the printer).  Of course, those of you who have purchased the wood tokens and clay chips will have much better components. Still, I think these punch-out tokens fit the theme and art design of the game perfectly. There are a lot of tokens in the game and my hats off to Tim Toolen, our designer, for managing to shoe-horn everything onto the plates.

The next images you'll see will be the rulebook cover, which might be available later today.

Thanks to all of you for your patience, and I'll keep you posted on news as it becomes available!

All the best,

Forrest

Rules Cover
about 3 years ago – Fri, May 14, 2021 at 03:10:22 AM

An addendum to the last email. Here is the cover of the rulebook which will be included in the game!

You can see the cut lines that will be used by the printer.

Many thanks to designer and artist Tim Toolen for coming up with this concept and creating the artwork.  Tim's the perfect guy to work on this project because he is not only a digital designer, but is also an artist, working in several mediums. I like this design because it really captures the cartoon look we've been going for throughout the project. You almost expect Yosemite Sam to jump out and fire his pistols!

All the best,

Forrest

Metal Masters
about 3 years ago – Thu, Apr 29, 2021 at 10:45:46 AM

Hello everyone,

While we wait for the creation of the printed materials to come together, we're charging ahead with mold-making.

Here are the final production masters for the base game's metal figures, ready for mold-making! They have been coated with molybdenum, which will help them release from the rubber easily and survive intact so they can be used to make several molds. The expansion figures and the Gunfighter's Ball masters of the characters are in sorting trays awaiting the same treatment.

Gunfight Royale base set metal masters.

Fingers crossed, we'll start spinning up copies of metal figures by the middle of next week.

Thanks for backing the project, and I'll keep you posted on new developments as they happen!

All the best,

Forrest

Holding Pattern
about 3 years ago – Wed, Apr 14, 2021 at 07:04:01 AM

Hello everyone,

Not much to report; just in a holding pattern waiting for the printer to work through a backlog of quotes from March when paper prices were crazy and they weren't quoting any new work. I've been assured it's in process.

Tim, my designer, has made good progress on his end. The cards and punch sheets  are all formatted for printing and the rule book is well along.

The metal figures, amazingly, are the easy part. Since we are a miniatures company, they're really "old hat." We now have metal masters of all the figures except the bear, and it's a short chip shot from there to the production molds which will be used to make figures for the game.

Thank you all for believing in this project, and I'll do my best to keep you in the loop as things progress!

All the best,

Forrest
